About the Artist: Flora Johnson

From the artist:

"As an Artist I am passionate about my work. I have learned the importance of paying attention to the story that each image reveals. I am a Survivor, Mother, Sister, Aunty, Grandmother, Warrior & most importantly a Spirit Holder. I am a member of the Mosakahiken Nation, from Manitoba.” A 60s Scoop Survivor” as some people like to say, but I am human, Kindness is important to me… We all breathe and feel our surroundings.  Flora's art style includes the use of bold, bright colours to invoke emotion, and strives to capture people's strength and spirituality in her pieces. She also uses her artistry to help her heal, and through teaching others to paint she aims to help them heal and, in her words, "find their own warrior within." Flora also volunteers at local schools, working with Indigenous children to "teach them through stories and art".
