BUSKERS for SURVIVORS REVISITED - Saturday, June 18, 2022

On Saturday June 18th, the Almonte United Church plays host to The Buskers for Survivors Revisited event. Building on last year’s success, Metis Elder, Tony Belcourt assembles another extraordinary lineup of indigenous and non-indigenous performers, including Kevin Schofield, Fiddleground, roots-rock songwriter Shane Belcourt, folk recording artist Christopher Elie, and more.

The event is a fundraiser for the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Doors open at 6:30 pm and is preceded by the Indigenous Food and Craft Fair (1-6pm) at the United Church Social Hall. Discounts available for those with limited income.

SUMMER SOLSTICE INDIGENOUS FESTIVAL – June 21 to 26

MĀDAHÒKÌ FARM 4420 West Hunt Club Road, Ottawa – Free Admission

From June 21st to 26th, the Madahoki Farm hosts this year’s Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival, a multi-disciplinary arts event that assembles Indigenous artists, performers, educators, students, and community members to share knowledge and to celebrate Canada’s diverse Indigenous cultures.  The event takes place during National Indigenous History Month and coincides with National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD).

The 5-day celebration features numerous indigenous performers (Inuit throat singers Sunsdrum, world champion hoop dancer Dallas Arcand, celebrated EDM group Silla and Rise, and more), Metis games, interactive artist stations, a celebratory feast of foods from the Arctic, birchbark basket workshop, and more.
