Golden Feather Initiative - Ways that TLTP supports the community
Turtle Lodge Trading Post Inc. (TLTP) supports the community in many different ways.
Since 2001, C.E.O. Karen Bisson has been a long-time volunteer for Circle of All Nations (CAN) founded by Algonquin Elder William Commanda. Many CAN products are now available through TLTP. Most of the proceeds for those items go directly back to CAN in some form or another.
Several years ago, TLTP also began the process of donating smudge bundle kits and other supplies several times a year to homeless outreach programs, including We Live in the Shadows/Shawna's Outreach, and Shawenjeagamik, a Homeless Partnering Strategy run by the Odawa Native Friendship Centre, at 910 Rideau St in Ottawa.
Note that a portion of all Circle of All Nations (CAN) products sold on this website now also goes to support these initiatives as generously contributed by Romola Thumbado, William Commanda's long time companion and co-director for CAN.
TLTP is also a supporter of the Orange Shirt Society as a distributor of their products.
In addition to the above, there are always random projects of all kinds that we are involved in. Whether its lending a hand with our labour, skills, or whatever products we can provide, the TLTP crew is always happy to lend a hand.
Some of you have asked how you can contribute to our programs. We are so grateful for your consideration! Please know that every time you purchase anything from Turtle Lodge Trading Post, you are contributing in some way.
