OVERVIEW: Slippery elm is a species of large, deciduous elm trees native to eastern North AmericaSlippery Elm bark is composed of the inner bark of the tree.  

TRADITIONAL USES: The bark was traditionally utilized for its various healthful properties by Native Americans. It was used to manage coughs, sore throat, colic, diarrhea, constipation, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bladder and urinary tract infections, syphilis, herpes, and for expelling tapeworms.  

It is said to protect against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation, and to reduce stomach acid. Slippery elm was applied to the skin for wounds, burns, gout, rheumatism, cold sores, boils, abscesses, ulcers, toothaches, sore throat, and as a lubricant to ease labor during childbirth 

STORAGE: Store in an airtight container in a dry cupboard away from light. 

PRECAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS: Consult a healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have any allergies, or are on any medications. Slippery Elm Bark may decrease the absorption of other medications; to avoid interaction, wait an hour after taking any medications before using Slippery Elm Bark.
