SKU: DRA00025

All of our herbs come from certified organic sources or trusted wildcrafters.

PART(S) USED: Dried resin, collected from the trunk.

OVERVIEW: Dragon’s blood is a natural plant resin. It’s dark red color gives dragon’s blood its name. The resin is extracted from many different tropical tree species commonly called dragon trees. These generally come from the plant groups Croton, Pterocarpus, Daemonorops, or Dracaena. The plant resin has been used for thousands of years. There are records of its use among the ancient Greeks and Romans and in India, China, and the Middle East for digestive health, as a dye, paint, incense, or for spiritual purposes. It has strong, somewhat sweet fragrance, not unlike vanilla and spices. Dragon’s blood products from the Dracaena and Daemonorops genus are the most common and widely used today.

TRADITIONAL USE: Dragon's Blood has been traditionally used to promote wound healing, though there is not enough research on its effectiveness in humans. It has also been used to treat gastrointestinal problems such as stomach ulcers and Crohn's disease. As an incense, the resin has been used as a purifier/cleanser for meditation and other rituals.

PRECAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS: Not for internal use.  While Dragon's Blood has been traditionally used internally, it has not yet been evaluated by Health Canada for such use. As with any herb or medicine that is lit, exercise caution when smoke is produced. If any symptoms occur (coughing or eye-watering, etc…) extinguish the product immediately and make sure the area is well-ventilated. Use extreme caution when burning resins around pets and young children.
