OVERVIEW: Açaí Berry Powder (Euterpe oleracea) is a palm tree, indigenous to Central and South America, which produces long-hanging clusters of berries. Acai berry has a long history of use in South America, especially Brazil, were it is enjoyed for its healthful qualities. Our Acai Powder is ground from freeze dried berries to preserve its range of beneficial properties. Acai Berry Powder can be blended into smoothies, added to cooking recipes, and tinctured.

The açaí (pronounced a-sigh-e) palm tree and its berries are indigenous to Central and South America. The palm tree is thin and approximately 25 meters high with groups of branches and ribbon like leaves. The berries hang from the branches in large clusters. Each tree produces about 20 kg of fruit per year and is one of the leading crops in Brazil. It was revered as an energy food and was traditionally pulped to make wine. Because the berries will start to spoil within 24 hours of being harvested, they must be quickly turned into juice, wine, or freeze dried and turned into a powder.

TRADITIONAL USES: Açaí berry is most commonly known for its antioxidant properties and fiber content. In powdered form, it is often added to juices or smoothies, or sprinkled on top of yogurt for added flavor.

PRECAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS:  Açaí berry powder is not recommended for use in those with allergies to pollen or berries similar to Açaí Berry. Consult a healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are on any medications.
